Again this year, Burn Tucker will sponsor and attend the 5th annual Ottawa and Eastern Ontario Brain Injury Awareness Day. The event, presented by Vista Centre Brain Injury Services, will be held on June 12, 2013 at the Hampton Inn. Please consult Vista Centre's website for more information.

Spinal Cord Injury Ontario, formerly known as the Canadian Paraplegic Association
We were the first Ottawa law firm to sponsor Spinal Cord Injury Ontario, formerly known as the Canadian Paraplegic Association Ontario's Peer Support Program. The Peer Support Program helps people affected by spinal cord injury by complementing the professional services provided in acute-care hospitals, rehabilitation centres and community-based health and social service agencies. Peer Support volunteers provide one-to-one support to persons who have sustained an injury and to their families. We are privileged to support the wonderful work of these dedicated volunteers.
We welcome every opportunity to support SCI Ontario in its other activities, including sponsoring its annual Champagne Charity Auction and sponsoring and participating in the Wheelchair Relay Challenges. For more information, please read SCI Ontario's e-newsletter.
Helmets on Kids Program
Because of the work we do, we understand the importance of safety and injury prevention.
Each year, on behalf of the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association (OTLA), we help raise funds to purchase bicycle helmets for local elementary school children who might not otherwise have a helmet. We are proud to work on this project with the Brain Injury Association of the Ottawa Valley, ThinkFirst, Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario and Youth Injury Prevention Centre, Citizen for Safe Cycling, Ottawa Safety Council, Safe Communities Ottawa, Vista Centre and Ottawa Public Health.

Colleen Burn sits on the board of Vista Centre, a non-profit organization that helps individuals with acquired brain injuries.
CIBC Run for the Cure
The firm participates in the annual CIBC Run for the Cure, Canada's largest single-day, volunteer-led fundraising event dedicated to raising funds for breast cancer research, and education and awareness programs..
Law Day Run
The firm also participates in the annual Law Day Run, which is an event held in April in Ottawa to raise funds for different charities.

Our lawyers and law clerks stay well informed of the latest developments in personal injury law by regularly attending legal education conferences. We frequently present at these conferences and write articles on personal injury law.
Laurie Tucker has served since 2004 on the Board of Directors of the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association, an organization committed to access to justice for those who have suffered losses as a result of injury.
Our lawyers and clerks are active in the OTLA, the County of Carleton Law Association and the Association of French Speaking Jurists in Ontario.
